Ekta Kapoor to make a film on Romeo and Juliet with a twist?

Bollywood has always been inspired by William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and time and again we have seen various version of the classic saga. Last we saw was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s version of the epic love story in form of Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and the latest we heard is Ekta Kapoor too is to make a film on the classic story with a twist.

The TV czarina is planning to make a same sex version of Romeo and Juliet called Romil and Juggal. The film will be directed by Danish Aslam who had directed Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan starrer Break Ke Baad in 2010.

However, sources also claim that the film now may not be made at all since Supreme Court has criminalised gay sex under section 377. This may limit the number of audience watching the film ultimately affecting the business of the film. Therefore, the makers have reconsidered the story and are currently making amendments to the script. If the changed story meets the expectation of the makers, then they may go ahead with the film and if not then it may get shelved.
